Organising your wardrobe, easy as 1,2,3
Do you open your wardrobe and admire the colour co-ordinated shirts, easily accessible as your work everyday wear, and separated conveniently from your casual items that are neatly folded away in the appropriate drawers?
Thought not.
But you’d like to, right? Then take the first step with our top three tips that will help you kickstart your wardrobe overhaul.
1/ Collect for charity
First things first. Go through everything in your wardrobe and get rid of the stuff you know you know needs to go. Our advice? Be brutal. Unless it’s specific occasion-wear, if you’ve had it for over 12 months and haven’t worn it once, it’s going to the charity shop. Do it.
2/ Look, Assess, Action
The second round of decluttering takes a little more thought. Consider the following: Is it starting to look tatty? Does it match things well? Are you keeping it to ‘lounge around in’ but you’ve already got five pairs of joggers?
And on that note, consider the seasons and occasions too. It’s no good have 90% of your wardrobe fit for heading out to build a snowman, and nothing for a summer’s day (because we do get them occasionally).
Of course, it’s not just clothes we are talking here. Shoes, bags, and underwear should be subject to the same assessment.
3/ Compartmentalise
You’ve got visibility of your newly cleansed wardrobe, now it’s time to organise it properly. It’s really important here for your wardrobe to look neat and tidy in SIX MONTH’S TIME, not just till next week.
So you’ve got to be thoughtful about where you put things. How much hanging space do you need? How often do you use items, and how accessible do they need to be?
A configured wardrobe solution creates a storage solution for your clothes that’s as unique as your clothing collection. And as everyone is different, that kinda makes sense. Take a look at our solutions for wardrobes and if you’d like help creating your own, then please get in touch.
